I am done with dieting so I can live my darn life!

I am telling the world, I am done with dieting! For real.

I created this blog to chronicle my journey away from crazy diets to healthy living. In the process, I pray my experience will educate and inspire others on how to live their best life (just like Oprah says).

I started dieting seriously during my junior year in college. Like a lot of girls, I went away to school and gained the freshman 15 + some. I was in denial about my weight all of sophomore year and most of my junior year until I realized that being chubby just wasn't cute anymore.

So I joined my very first weight loss program...Weight Watchers! I lost around 7 lbs and that was it. I thought I looked half way decent so went back to my old ways. I fell off the wagon. Thus began my love affair with diets and all things related to diets (supplements and workout programs).

Where shall I begin? I tried...
LA Weightloss
Phen Phen + The Cabbage Soup Diet
Jenny Craig
Nutri-system
LA Weightloss again
Fit For Life
Atkins (lost 10lbs in 2 weeks with this one!)
Isagenix cleanse & products (stuck with this over 2 years)
Calorie counting with the Body Bug
Calorie and macros counting with MyFitnessPal
Weight Watchers again
The Food Lovers Diet
Dukan Diet
Wheat Belly
Paleo/Primal

I'm probably missing a few in that list, but you get the point. I don't even want to start naming all the workout DVDs & fat burning supplements I purchased! I always started a new diet thinking this was going to be the answer I've been searching for. I would be so excited about a new program that I would recruit my girlfriends to join me and I would stick with it religiously, until the restrictions of the program got the best of me and I would quit.

I repeated that cycle over and over and over for decades.

It wasn't until recently when a very wise, young and fabulous woman taught me that the best diet is not to diet. No single book, diet center, online forum, personal trainer, diet expert or guru can tell me what works best for me. Only I know what's best for me.

She taught me the key is listen to my body to achieve optimal health. In a nutshell, it's real simple...
Stop dieting.
Focus on the fabulous and have fun (daily).
Move that body a bit everyday.
Eat when I am hungry.
Stop eating when I am full.
Everything else will fall into place.

This is what I am doing these days. As long as I can remember, I have struggled with my weight and consequently my confidence. It's not easy to unlearn decades of dieting mentality but I'ma tryin'!

So with that said...let's get started!
